UNA-IRAN Statement on Israeli Military Aggression
December 29, 2008

The United Nations Association of Iran (UNA-IRAN) strongly condemns Israeli military aggression in Gaza, and calls upon the international community – the UN in particular – to seriously raise this issue in their agenda and to adopt necessary mechanisms to prevent the continuation of these types of crimes against humanity from taking place.

The Israeli regime air-strikes against the defenceless and besieged people of Gaza on Saturday 27 December once again showed the ineffectiveness of international resolutions and pressure in confronting these types of state-sponsored massacres.

This latest Israeli action is not only in violation of the Geneva Four Conventions, but it is also a violation of the most basic human rights that are stated in all international conventions and instruments, undermining the dignity of mankind in human rights instruments.

While expressing sympathy for the oppressed and innocent people of Gaza, UNA-IRAN emphatically calls upon the international community to take necessary steps to prosecute and punish the perpetrators of these crimes against humanity, and to also react towards the existing double-standards in international relations.
