On 19 August 2008, with the cooperation of UNIC, UNA-IRAN held a one day education course entitled MDG Education Course for 35 teachers and school heads of the Education Department. This course was held with the aim of promoting UN culture. Experts from various UN agencies explained each of the eight MDG, and the access process of these Goals in Iran.
The course started with an introduction of UNA-IRAN and a narrative of its activities by vice-president, Ms. Leila Enayati. This was followed by Mr. Mohammad Ali Rajaee Moghadam from UNIC introduced the MDG in brief.
This was followed by a description of the First Goal which is end to poverty and hunger, and the Eighth Goal which is global partnership for development, by Dr. Ali Farzin from UNDP.
The Second and Fourth Goals (universal education and child health) were reviewed by Mr. Afshin Parsi from UNESCO.
The Third and Fifth Goals (gender equality and maternal health) were reviewed by Dr. Monireh Bassir from UNDP
The Sixth Goal which is combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases was discussed by Ali Feiz-zadeh from UNAIDS in Iran. The Seventh Goal which is environmental sustainability was discussed by Mr. Mir-Ferdosi from UNDP in Iran.
The end of the course was allocated to a Q&A time for the participants.
