For the occasion of the 26th of June International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, as always, while commemorating the day in remembrance and support of these victims, the ODVV  was held a technical panel on Sunday 29 June in its conference hall.

The UN Secretary-General’s message for the day was read by a representative from the UN Office in Tehran .

The invited guests and speakers include: the Prosecutor General of Iran , Ayatollah Dorri Najaf-Abadi; Dr. Jaafar Kousha – President of the Human Rights, Peace and Decomcracy Chair of Shahid Beheshti University , whose speech shall be on key developments and elements in the international law concept of torture ban; Dr. Hossein Mehrpour – Member of Shahid Beheshti Science Faculty, whose speech shall be on review of torture in international conventions; Dr. Mohammad Ali Ardebili – Member of Shahid Beheshti Law College Science Faculty, whose speech shall be on torture prevention; and Dr. Hossein Mir Mohammad Sadeghi – Member of Shahid Beheshti Law College Science Faculty, who shall review torture in domestic laws.

This technical panel was held with the cooperation/support of the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (IRCT), and also as part of the UNDP Cluster Project on: National Capacity Building for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Greater Access to Justice.
